Mapping Contacts

Over time, as you log your contacts, you may want to see how far away and which places you have contacted. There are many way to map your contacts. The old school method (still fun) is simply to hang a map on your wall (on cork board) and place push pins at each place you have logged.

Today we will examine another method, using an electronic log file and a free online service called:
QSOMap.org
In radio speak, a “QSO” means “conversation” and this site will help you create a map your conversations (QSOs).

Electronic logging programs like the free version at QRZ.com and pay versions like ones found at N3FJP.com (and digital FT8 programs and many many others both free and paid) have the ability to save-as or export an “ADIF” (Amateur Data Interchange Format) file that QSOMap.org can use to draw a map of the contacts in your log.
